本課程以文學院圖書資訊學系學生為授課對象。課程目的是介紹電腦網路與通訊的基本概念、網路傳輸的媒介、通訊的協定、區域網路的規劃與架設、區域網路的原理、網際網路的通訊協定如IP協定、傳輸層協定、與常用的網路指令等。

The target students of the course are the sophomores of the Department of Library and Information Science. While computer communication network is one of the most important global infrastructures, the full-semester introductory course is to equip the students with the basic knowledge in computer network and communication. Related concepts, terminologies, and technologies used in modern data communication and computer networking are introduced. The topics include introduction to computer network, telecommunication and network media, telecommunication protocols, network design and implementation, protocols of local area network, wide area network and wireless network, Internet protocol, and network security.
